Room for one more panel: this kit's inverter takes a second 200 W panel. Additional Panel 200W + Cables: $200 in the same order as this kit, so the pair costs what the 400 W kit does; $229 on its own later.
The easy start: one 8 lb panel tied to a railing, fence or deck, powering what's always on while the sun is up: router, modem, chargers. The grid covers the rest, and every bit you make is power you don't buy.
Hanging on a south-facing railing, the 200 makes 140 to 230 kWh a year depending on your state. See what it saves where you live.
Nothing to buy separately. Nothing to wire.
Start with the sunny space you have: the difference is one panel or two. The 400 W kit's extra $200 buys a second 200 W DC panel, which needs its own space. Both kits share the 391 W AC inverter, so the output limit is the same.

Panel wattage is the DC rating; inverter output is AC. Actual generation depends on sunlight, orientation and shade. Estimate savings for your home.
A railing, deck, patio, fence or sunny wall. Measure space for each panel, check for shade and plan a secure mounting position near a suitable outdoor GFCI outlet. No extension cord or power strip.
Choose a sunny position. Before mounting, complete any required utility notification, approvals and property permissions.
Follow the quick-start guide to secure the panels and connect the inverter and cord.
Once the required local steps are complete, connect to the suitable outlet and see generation in the Hoymiles app. The guide includes utility notification text where needed.
